Rules of Chicago’s Crystal Ball
All persons attending this competition, whether as spectator, competitor, guest of the organizers or official, must sign the Chicago Crystal Ball release,
and shall also be bound by the following rules.
All competing professionals and pro-am
teachers must be registered with the NDCA. Registration forms will be available at the competition or contact:

1. The Chairman of Judges shall be the sole arbiter on decisions concerning ties or any other problem in scoring. The decision of the Chairman shall be
final. No judge shall be harassed or questioned by competitors about the reasons for their markings.
2. All persons attending this competition, whether as spectator, competitor, guest, or official who acts in an unsportsmanlike manner or in any manner
that reflects poorly on the sport or art of dancing, is subject to disciplinary action by the NDCA.
3. Male competitors will be supplied with numbers. Exhibitions, Formations, and Theatre Arts competitions are exempt from wearing numbers.
4. No responsibility for the loss or theft of articles can be accepted by the Crystal Ball Dance Competition, the Organizers, or the NDCA. The
aforementioned cannot be held liable for any injuries sustained by any person attending this event. Everyone attending this event does so at his or her
own risk.
5. Lifts or drops are not allowed in any category except Theatre Arts. Floor drags are not permitted in any Pro/Am event.
6. Competitors must register with the registrar upon arrival and confirm entries, dances, and partners. Failure to do so could result in the loss of placing
in your heat.
7. The Skating System of judging will be used.
8. The on deck system will be used. Competitors must report to the designated area three heats prior to their own heat to insure not missing a heat.
Any competitor that is not present when called to the floor will be disqualified.
9. The Organizer reserves the right to merge or cancel any category with less than 3 entries.
10. No choreographed entry or exit will be allowed in Freestyle heats.
11. Closed International Standard and Latin are restricted to ISTD syllabus. Closed American is restricted to NDCA requirements. In the
American Smooth, closed footwork is required in all Bronze level Freestyles. No continuity style in Bronze.
12. Pro/Am teachers will NOT receive credit for entries after the entry deadline date.
13. American and International style student/teacher divisions; traditional costumes allowed. International Amateur Novice, Bronze, Silver
& above costumes
allowed. No thong back outfits allowed.
14. No personal videotaping will be allowed. Professional video services will be available for purchase to those interested.
15. Cancellations received in writing exactly 2 weeks prior to the start date, will be refunded, minus a $50.00 cancellation fee per person. After
this date cancellations will not be refunded. We are sorry but there are no exceptions. Any refunds due will be made within 4 weeks following
the completion of the competition.
16.Should any point arise which is not covered in the NDCA rule book or in these additional rules, it will be referred to the organizers, whose
decision will be final.
17.All entries submitted must be made by cashier's check, money order or credit cards. Late entries are accepted at discretion of the organizers. Cash only accepted at the door of the event.
18.In the event less than six couples enter a scholarship event, the event could be canceled or the prize monies reduced.

TEACHER AWARDS
PROAM
TEACHER AWARDS ARE UNISEX AWARDS and will be presented to teachers with
the most points, however certain requirements must be met:
Teachers must have a minimum of 40 entries, teacher must be on package, and
have at least 3 students on package.
Cancelled or late entries will not count. The points are awarded as follows:
For each entry= 8 points
For each callback =1 point
1st Place= 4 Points 2nd Place=3 Points 3rd Place= 2 Points 4 th Place= 1 Point
Points will be halved for uncontested entry
Teachers will receive points for Amateur couples registered under their name.
Juniors and Pro/Ams who pay a reduced fee will count ½ the points
